This year, proceeds from the Rochester Wine & Chocolate Festival will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York. Ronald McDonald House Charities give a family with a sick child what they need most – each other. The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities is to look after the health and well-being of children and families. They believe all families deserve access to quality care, and they help to reduce barriers by providing a comfortable place to stay at no cost. Whether it’s lodging, transportation, meals or companionship, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York provides a “home-away-from-home” to families while their children receive the medical care they need.
Festival attendees will be invited to make a cash or mobile donation and spin the wheel for prizes at The Summit’s booth. All donations collected will go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York. Additionally, $1 from the sale of each bottle of wine at the festival will go to that organization.
“This festival celebrates the craft beverage and food industry, and The Summit is so excited to once again be the title sponsor,” said Twanda Christensen, vice president of marketing and community engagement for The Summit Federal Credit Union. “It also allows us to highlight the vital work of the Ronald McDonald House here in Western New York and the families for whom it is a lifeline.”
“Families with ill or injured children receiving treatment in local hospitals depend on the Ronald McDonald House of WNY to provide a safe place to stay, warm meals to eat and programs that comfort,” said Lisa Booz, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York. “Our house becomes their home so they can focus all their attention on caring for their child. Thanks to local corporate sponsors, like The Summit, our house can continue to provide these vital services for our families free of charge. The Wine and Chocolate Festival is a marvelous example of how we can come together for a fun event while raising funds for such an important cause. We are excited and grateful to be the charity of choice this year, and look forward to raising awareness and possibly attracting a few more volunteers!”
