√ Community distribution events provided 130,000 meals, school supplies to families
Press Release
This year’s “Feeding Minds & Bodies” campaign marked a decade of partnership between Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children in their shared mission to combat hunger. In 2024, the two organizations hosted 10 events across several states – distributing approximately 130,000 meals and essentials valued at nearly $1.4 million. These efforts reached more than 21,000 individuals in the communities served by Price Rite Marketplace stores, continuing their commitment to supporting families in need.
Each family, pre-identified by local community partners, received a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of essentials and personal care items, and additional shelf-stable items provided by Price Rite Marketplace. Children were also provided backpacks filled with school supplies.
“Our ‘Feeding Minds & Bodies’ program is at the heart of Price Rite Marketplace’s charitable giving, and we are thankful for Feed the Children and all our community partners whose support has allowed us to help our neighbors over the last 10 years,” said Kevin McDonnell, president of Price Rite Marketplace.
From May through December, Price Rite and Feed the Children hosted events in Buffalo and Schenectady; Bethlehem and Chester, Pennsylvania; New Britain and New Haven, Connecticut; Chelsea, Chicopee and New Bedford, Massachusetts; and Woonsocket, Rhode Island. State and local elected officials showed their support at the events, speaking at opening ceremonies and helping distribute food. Price Rite Marketplace team members and Feed the Children representatives also volunteered at each event.
“We are grateful for a decade of partnership with Price Rite Marketplace, helping to make a difference in the lives of children and families,” said Emily Callahan, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “Through continued collaboration, we have a greater impact as we seek to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry.”
Corporate and local partners who helped make these events possible include local chapters of the Boys & Girls Club, PepsiCo, Conagra Brands, Keurig Dr. Pepper, Frito-Lay, Goya Foods, Hormel Foods, Kraft Heinz, the Salvation Army of Chelsea, Kellogg’s, United Foods, Butterball, Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry and Olive St. Food Pantry.
Since partnering with Feed the Children, Price Rite Marketplace has contributed over 4 million pounds of food, totaling more than $14 million in gift-in-kind donations, providing support through 76 community events helping more than 228,000 people across the Northeast.
