The Town of Porter announced applications for its “Hometown Heroes” banner program are now available at Town Hall and online at www.townofporter.net.
In a release, the town said it is again offering the program “to recognize the sacrifice and commitment of those who served in the military. The banners can be purchased by friends, families, community organizations or businesses.”
The banners measure 66 by 30 inches, double-sided, and are constructed of durable vinyl with a patriotic theme that include the veteran’s photo. They are prominently displayed from the spring to the fall along main roadways in the town, including the Village of Youngstown and hamlet of Ransomville.
Last year, 115 banners were mounted throughout the community.
The town said the price for the banners would remain at $190 for 2025. Price includes the banner, the necessary hardware for mounting, installation on designated utility poles, and removal/cleaning for winter storage at Town Hall.
“Hometown Heroes” banner applications are being accepted in person at Town Hall until Tuesday, April 15. Banner installations are expected to begin Thursday, May 1.
