Niagara Gospel Mission Press Release and Photo
The Niagara Gospel Mission was bustling once again on Dec. 23 and Christmas morning, preparing and handing out over 1,700 prepackaged Christmas meals to those in need in the City of Niagara Falls, the Town of Niagara, and the City of North Tonawanda.
More than 300 volunteers showed up and were assigned different roles for the “Feed the Falls” event. On Monday night, volunteers prepped bags of cookies, rolls and packaged cranberry sauce. On Christmas, at 7 a.m., volunteers began shuffling into the site to warm up the turkeys, corn, gravy, stuffing and mashed potatoes. After the meals were prepared, another group of volunteers came in to drive the meals to families who had called ahead.
On top of handing out meals to the community, Niagara Gospel Mission also packaged individual meals for the Niagara Falls Police and Fire departments, along with security forces at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, which all had people on duty and away from their families on Christmas Day, keeping us safe.
“We are so blessed that we have had continually success with this service to our community from Thanksgiving and now to Christmas; we hope to continue to be a beacon of hope to the people of Niagara Falls,” said the Rev. John Cooper, executive director.
The success of both the Thanksgiving and Christmas deliveries are a constant reminder to the staff, volunteers and residents of Niagara Gospel Mission that our efforts are valued, and our contributions can make a difference in someone’s life. Niagara Gospel Mission is constantly seeking to aid in delivering hope to our precious city.
