Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center Press Release

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center (NFMMC) is proud to announce it has signed a training affiliation agreement with the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, based at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, to enhance clinical training opportunities for the squadron’s flight nurses and medical technicians. This collaboration, effective as of November, will help support the squadron members' operational readiness and professional development while strengthening ties between the hospital and the local military community.

Under the agreement, members of the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron will conduct clinical rotations at NFMMC in settings such as the emergency department, intensive care units, medical/surgical floors, and outpatient clinics. This partnership is expected to bring 20 to 30 highly skilled flight nurses and medical technicians to the hospital annually for hands-on proficiency training in nursing and medical skills.

“This agreement is a testament to Memorial’s commitment to serving our community, including the brave men and women of our armed forces,” said Joseph Ruffolo, NFMMC president and CEO. “By leveraging our expertise and facilities, we are helping to prepare these professionals to deliver critical in-flight medical care when it matters most.”

The partnership reflects the strategic importance of NFMMC as the closest full-service hospital to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station. With its Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) certification and robust clinical resources, NFMMC is uniquely positioned to meet the training needs of the 914th Squadron, which plays a vital role in providing life-saving care during air transport missions.

“This affiliation allows our team to develop and maintain critical skills in a dynamic and professional environment,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Sell, commander of the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. “The training opportunities at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will ensure our readiness to support missions at home and abroad.”

This program is designed to provide valuable training opportunities for the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron without incurring any training expenses for the U.S. Air Force. Additionally, it ensures that the participation of squadron members will not displace current NFMMC employees or interfere with existing service contracts. By fostering a mutually beneficial collaboration, this agreement underscores the shared commitment of both organizations to enhance medical readiness and community support.
