Replaces outgoing Judge Angela Stamm-Phillips
On Monday, local attorney Rodney Giove was appointed as the next Town of Wheatfield justice, effective Jan. 1, 2025.
Giove’s appointment announcement comes as current town justice, the Hon. Angela Stamm Phillips, readies to step down from her position on Dec. 31, to assume the role of Niagara County Family Court judge.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to Judge Angela Stamm Phillips for her years of dedicated service to the people of Wheatfield,” Giove said. “She has been a steadfast and fair leader in our justice system, and I know she will continue to serve our community with excellence in her new role as Family Court judge for Niagara County.”
In addition to his appointment to replace the outgoing Stamm-Phillips, Giove officially announced his candidacy for Town of Wheatfield justice in the 2025 election.
His team said, “With a proven commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, integrity and justice, Giove aims to bring his extensive legal experience and dedication to public service to the bench.”
Giove, a longtime Wheatfield resident, has been practicing law in the region for over 20 years.
The press release noted, “His deep understanding of the legal system, combined with his passion for serving the community, positions him as an ideal candidate to ensure that every case is handled with fairness and impartiality. Throughout his career, Giove has represented clients in a wide range of legal matters, earning a reputation for being knowledgeable, approachable, and committed to the well-being of his clients.”
Giove said, “I am excited to work as town justice and would like the thank the Wheatfield Town Board for giving me the opportunity to further demonstrate my commitment to this role and to our community. I look forward to engaging with the residents of Wheatfield during my appointment and throughout the election process.”
In addition to his legal practice, Giove has been actively involved in numerous community initiatives, including coaching local soccer clubs and providing pro bono legal services to those in need. Rodney and his wife, Shannon, have lived in the Town of Wheatfield for more than 17 years, and are raising their two sons, Jaxon and Brixton.
