The New York Power Authority will hold its annual “Deck the Halls” holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 14, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., at the Niagara Power Vista – the visitors center for the Niagara Power Project. The event will feature free photos with Santa, musical entertainment, face painting, and arts and crafts.
Guests will be able to ride the “Vista Polar Express” – a trackless train providing rides on the grounds surrounding the Power Vista operated by WNY Trackless Train of Buffalo. Additionally, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will provide free rides on the Niagara Scenic Trolley between Prospect Pointe in Niagara Falls State Park and the Niagara Power Vista for the event.
During the event, guests can also enjoy the Festival of Trees, which highlights local nonprofits. The Festival of Trees will be featured at the Power Vista through Dec. 31. Nonprofits interested in participating in the Festival of Trees can fill out this form or call 716-286-6661.
Visitors at the Niagara Power Vista are encouraged to explore its array of multimedia exhibits, including hands-on interactive technologies, large touch screens, and a virtual rollercoaster relating to the production of electricity, energy efficiency and the area’s history. The location also provides unique views from the observation deck 350 feet above the Niagara River Gorge.
The Power Vista is located at 5777 Lewiston Road in Lewiston. Parking is free and will be available in the Power Vista parking lot and adjacent lots at Niagara University. The Niagara Power Vista is a stop on the Discover Niagara Shuttle’s “Falls to the Fort” route.
