The Niagara County Department of Health is hosting its final free rabies immunization clinic of 2024 this Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon at the City of North Tonawanda Public Works Department, 758 Erie Ave.

NCDOH stated, “Rabies vaccination is essential for protecting pets and their families from this fatal disease. New York state law mandates that all cats, dogs and ferrets 4 months of age and older must be vaccinated against rabies. Pets that are vaccinated serve as a vital buffer between rabid wildlife and humans, reducing the risk of exposure.”

Appointments are required and can be scheduled online at www.niagaracounty.gov/rabiesclinic or by calling 716-439-7490. Registration opens the first business day of the clinic week. Walk-ins will not be accepted.

Bring proof of a pet’s prior vaccination to qualify for a three-year certificate; otherwise, a one-year certificate will be issued.

Dogs must be on a collar and leash (no retractable leashes), and cats and ferrets must be in carriers.

This clinic is provided in collaboration with the Niagara Frontier Veterinary Society.

For more information, visit www.niagaracounty.gov/rabiesclinic or call 716-439-7444.
