Submitted by the Lewiston Service Guild
Halloween 2024 was celebrated with unusually warm weather and lots of Halloween books. The Lewiston Service Guild sponsored a Halloween celebration with the Tuscarora Nation School by providing a Halloween-themed book for each student, Halloween treats and, of course, cookies and cider. Some the titles the students received were “Room on the Broom,” “Pig the Monster,” “New Kid” and “It’s Halloween I’m Turning Green,” just to name a few.
President Alexis Stopa-Weis said, “The Lewiston Service Guild is so pleased to have sponsored the Halloween celebration with the Tuscarora Nation School. The Tuscarora Nation is such an integral important part of our community. Being a retired teacher, I was so pleased when the school administration and staff suggested books for each. We look forward to partnering with the Tuscarora Nation School in future events.
The Lewiston Service Guild has been in existence since 1938 – one of the longest-serving organizations in the community. Over the years, its fundraising efforts have financially supported various local charities. The group was originally started to support the Lewiston Library.
