The Niagara History Center will hold a Veterans Day program for children ages 7 to 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, at 215 Niagara St., Lockport.
The theme this year is “Service on the World War II Home Front.” Attendees will learn about the important roles women and children played in the war effort and how farming and victory gardens were essential for both soldiers and civilians alike. They will also design a “Help Win the War” poster; make a mini flashlight and participate in an air raid drill; do a rationing and scrap collecting activity on the grounds of the museum; and enjoy a popular World War II-era snack while listening to a 1940s radio show.
Program fee is $15 per child. Preregistration for the program is required. A snack will be provided at noon, but there is no provision for lunch during this program. For more information and registration, contact Education Coordinator Ann Marie Linnabery at 716-434-7433 or [email protected]. The Niagara History Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
