Museum is offering free admission for retired & active service members Nov. 9, 11

Press Release

Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children’s Museum, in partnership with MOD-PAC Folding Cartons and Stock Packaging, is honored to offer free admission for retired and active-duty members of our armed forces on Saturday, Nov. 9, and on Veterans Day (Monday, Nov. 11).

Please note that adults seeking admission must be accompanied by a child.

On Veterans Day, the museum will host various activities and programs inspired by the dedication and bravery of military personnel. Explore & More staff and visiting families will also assemble wheelchair blankets that will be donated to the Buffalo VA Medical Center.

Leading up to Veterans Day, and starting Friday, Nov. 1, Explore & More and MOD-PAC will hold a toiletry drive. Donated items will be distributed to service members assigned to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station in preparation for future deployments.

Highly needed items include: bar soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, dental flossers picks, Q-Tips, foot/baby powders (feet get sores from heat), travel size laundry soap, dryer sheets, (sometimes a shortage), wipes, Dude Wipes, and Lysol wipes (cleaning living area).

Items can be ordered via Amazon Wish List by clicking here.

“Explore & More is a great place for families to learn and play together, and MOD-PAC is proud to sponsor their Veterans Day weekend!” said Daniel Keane, president and CEO of MOD-PAC. “We are grateful for the veterans of our country who sacrifice so much for our freedom, and it is our privilege to help coordinate a toiletry drive for the Friends of Family Support Association, which benefits servicemembers of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station.”

“It’s wonderful to collaborate with MOD-PAC on such an important venture,” Explore & More President and CEO Michelle Urbanczyk said. “Not only will children be able to learn more about Veterans Day through fun activities in the museum, but they’ll better understand the nature of helping others through this toiletry drive that directly benefits our soldiers who are stationed locally.”

Items can be dropped off at the museum during normal museum hours. Leading up to Veterans Day, Explore & More will be open from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Nov. 1-2, 6-9 and 11.

Additionally, MOD-PAC Corp., located at 1801 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo, will serve as a drop off site from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. weekdays.

‘Calling All Heroes’ camp

Registration is open for Explore & More's "Calling All Heroes" day camp on Nov. 11. It will be a special day celebrating our heroes, making first responder-themed crafts, and enjoying other hero-themed STEM activities.

As always, children should be ready to explore the museum with exclusive museum time in the morning. Limited spots remain, so register today at exploreandmore.org!

Explore & More’s school-age day camp programs are offered on select designated school holidays and school break weeks. Our programs are led by our professional educators. We are licensed and regulated by New York State Office of Child & Family Services.

Fun, hands-on experiences will spark creativity, imagination and exploration as children participate in planned thematic academic activities and venture throughout the museum to play and learn in the exhibits.

Explore & More – The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Children's Museum is located at 130 Main St., Buffalo. For more, call 716-655-5131 or visit www.exploreandmore.org.
