SUNY Niagara Press Release
SUNY Niagara has exceeded its fall 2024 undergraduate enrollment goal. The college had projected 3,056 undergraduate students would attend during the fall semester. The actual number, which could continue to change, stands at around 3,300 – the highest since fall 2019.
Total fall enrollment could be higher because undergraduate figures do not count high school students taking courses through SUNY Niagara’s college acceleration program. They also exclude enrollment in noncredit courses.
Two especially bright spots for the college are the nursing and radiologic technician programs. After enrollment declines in 2023-24, both are at capacity this fall.
The number of students taking advantage of housing on campus also has increased significantly this fall, according to Assistant Vice President of Student Services and Student Engagement Bob McKeown.
“Residence halls are at full capacity for the first time in several years,” McKeown said. “While this is to be expected when the overall student population grows, it is still exciting to see.”
Stephanie Florczak, SUNY Niagara interim director of admissions, said students’ success fuels growth.
“SUNY Niagara graduates earn more than their counterparts from Western New York’s other two-year schools,” Florczak said. “Other factors include our reputation for academic excellence, flat tuition this fall – students aren’t paying more this year than they did last year – and the college’s new brand, which gives prospective students a clear idea of who we are and what we stand for.”
The college rebranded earlier this year as “SUNY Niagara.” The campaign around its new identity has increased awareness of the college throughout Western New York, driving up applications for admission this fall.
