Submitted by the Press Secretary to the County Executive

Erie County is excited to announce the launch of the “Arts in Public Places” 2024 call to artists, part of a new initiative designed to enhance the cultural landscape of our community through public art.

The call to artists invites Erie County artists to submit proposals for public art installations that will beautify public spaces, engage the community, and promote cultural awareness. The selection process will be overseen by the Department of Environment & Planning and the “Arts in Public Places” committee, which is committed to ensuring that all projects reflect the values and diversity of Erie County. Award amounts will not exceed $200,000. The application deadline is noon Dec. 16. Detailed submission guidelines and information can be found at www.erie.gov/publicart.

A virtual information session will be held Nov. 15.

The “Arts in Public Places” program is supported by the newly created Public Art Fund in which Erie County allocates 1% of the cost of qualifying building construction projects, up to a maximum of $10,000, for the acquisition, maintenance and management of public art. This fund aims to foster a vibrant artistic environment that reflects the diverse culture and creativity of Erie County residents. Learn more at www.erie.gov/publicart.
