First District Niagara County Legislator Irene Myers invites the community to help support area veterans by attending her annual veterans chicken barbecue and basket raffle. The event will take place from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Youngstown Volunteer Fire Co. firehall, 625 Third St. Presale tickets are now on sale.

As in past years, this benefit will go to assist members of both VFW Lake Ontario Post 313 in Youngstown and the O. Leo Curtiss American Legion Post 830 in Ransomville.

“Help our vets keep their posts alive and well! This chicken barbecue and basket raffle helps keep the lights on!” Myers said.

Event organizers welcome donations of baskets and gift cards for the raffle.

“We are looking for donations of baskets and gift cards; they can be dropped off during normal business hours at Ki-Po Chevrolet in Ransomville,” Myers said. “Keith at Ki-Po will once again be offering a $10 Ki-Po gift certificate for those who donate a basket and drop it off at the dealership. The certificates can be used towards any sales or service at Ki-Po Chevrolet in Ransomville.”

Presale tickets can be purchased for $13 at Stevenson’s Hardware, Johnston’s Family Restaurant, Knead the Dough and the Porter Empty Return in Ransomville; the Youngstown Village Diner; and at Syros Restaurant and DeGiulio’s Pharmacy in Lewiston. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15.
