NFMMC welcomes LaVaugn Reeves as new director of emergency department

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announced LaVaugn Reeves, LMSW, BSN, RN, TNCC, will join the hospital as director of its emergency department, effective Oct. 21.

A press release said, “In this role, Reeves will oversee the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered emergency care and spearhead initiatives to improve clinical operations and enhance patient outcomes.”

Before joining Memorial, Reeves served as an emergency department nurse and nursing supervisor at various health care institutions nationwide. With over a decade of experience in acute care and emergency medicine, Reeves held leadership positions, such as serving as the emergency department charge nurse at Sisters of Charity Hospital and as an emergency department RN at Buffalo General Medical Center. Additionally, Reeves worked in the emergency department at Dallas Methodist Medical Center, HCA Houston Healthcare North West, and UPMC Altoona.

Reeves is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Nursing-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at the University of Rochester, with an expected graduation date of May 2025. Reeves also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from Daemen University and a Master of Social Work degree from Yeshiva University’s Wurzweiler School of Social Work.

NFMMC noted, “Reeves also brings extensive clinical and administrative expertise, supported by a strong background in mental health services and social work. As director of social work at the Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare and the Waterfront Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare in Buffalo, Reeves led initiatives to integrate social and mental health services into patient care, enhancing the quality and continuity of care. Additionally, Reeves has experience overseeing complex care management for high-risk populations, conducting psychosocial assessments, and developing comprehensive treatment plans in a role as program specialist for Centene Corp.”
