On the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 11, a little free library was installed at Holy Ghost Lutheran School by the Kiwanis Club of Niagara-Wheatfield.

The Kiwanis Club is excited to be part of this global network of volunteer-led little free library book-exchange boxes. This library box was colorfully constructed and installed by members of the Niagara-Wheatfield club. It is located at Holy Ghost School between the playground and flagpole.

This is continuation of the Kiwanis Club’s support of our children to be able to obtain books to further their enjoyment and enhancement that reading can create. The books, primarily children and young adults, are free to take, share and give to everyone.

This dedication was in conjunction with Holy Ghost’s annual flag-raising in memory of the 9-11 attack on America. Members of the Bergholz Fire Co. arrived on their truck to perform the flag-raising. The entire school body and staff were assembled outside for this event.

The Niagara-Wheatfield Kiwanis Club also participated in the Wheatfield Family Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 18, where the members continued with their annual “Take-a Book, Share-a-Book, Give-a-Book” program. More than two full totes of books found new homes to the delight of many young and older residents. There was also a can’t-lose bean bag toss game where pinwheels, slime, water shooters and sensory toys were given as prizes. The club members also hosted a food stand selling Tim Hortons hot and cold coffee along with fresh Timbits.

If you may have some books to donate to the club’s reading program, please contact this writer at [email protected] or 716-228-3162.
