A Grand Island eighth-grader was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday night, according to the Erie County Sheriff’s Office and broadcast media reports.
The intersection of South Parkway from Broadway to Love Road was closed due to a crash at 9:08 p.m. according to NITTEC (Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition).
Officials at the Erie County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to news media that a body was located at the scene. The Grand Island School Superintendent Brian Graham said in a Facebook post Wednesday night that an eighth-grade student was struck by a vehicle on South Parkway near Broadway.
The Erie County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating.
