Boys and girls in grades kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to join Cub Scouts!
Youngstown Pack 829 is having a new Scout welcome picnic from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15, at Porter-on-the-Lake Park on Dietz Road in Youngstown. Local families are invited to come and learn about our program, how to join, and meet the leaders.
"Cub Scouting gets kids away from screens and engaged in their community through fun activities,” said Charlotte Clark, Pack 829’s Cubmaster. “We are an active group and would love to welcome more children and families into our service, leadership, and character-building programming. All are welcome to learn more at the upcoming picnic or a meeting this fall."
Pack 829 goes to summer camp, flies rockets, races Pinewood Derby cars, has climbing nights at the climbing center, raises the flag at school on Flag Day, goes fishing, marches in parades, and volunteers to help the Youngstown Lions Club (its chartered organization).
Through these activities, Scouting teaches children about citizenship, leadership, good character, and taking care of their mental and physical wellbeing. Plus, they make lifelong friends.
Cub Scout Pack 829 meets twice monthly on Mondays in the basement of Youngstown Presbyterian Church. Following the welcome picnic on Sept. 15, the regular meetings will begin Monday, Sept. 23, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
