The Niagara Frontier Antique and Classic Boats announced its 45th annual Antique and Classic Boat Show returns Saturday, Sept. 7, to the Buffalo Launch Club on Grand Island.
The BLC, home to the oldest power boating club in the world, will host a “Chris-Craft Jamboree” of classic boats. Featured will be legendary Chris-Craft boats celebrating a 150th anniversary in 2024.
“We are expecting over 100 vintage mahogany runabouts, cruisers and early fiberglass ‘glassics’ from across the Northeast, Midwest and Southern Ontario,” event chair Sharon L. Dickinson said. “This is one of the largest and finest antique boat shows in the country.
“Visitors can expect a number of classic boats both on land and in the water, spanning four decades from the 1930s through the 1960s. We’ll even have a few from the ’20s.”
As a special feature, the replica packet boat Seneca Chief will be on display at the BLC, offering a glimpse of life on the Erie Canal 200 years ago.
“This is a family event, with hands-on kids camp, junior judging, working model boat displays, an afternoon seminar on the history of Chris-Craft boats, nautical flea market and a fantastic car show with room for over 200 registered cars!” Dickinson said.
The show is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with food and beverages available all day. Although admission to the show is free, there is a $10-per-car parking fee.
Past shows have attracted more than 5,000 spectators. For more information, email [email protected].
