The Child Advocacy Center of Niagara (CAC of Niagara), a service of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center (NFMMC), announced its participation in this year’s OneTooMany Virtual 5K, a fundraising event organized by the New York State Children's Alliance to support child advocacy centers across the state. The event takes place Sept. 13-15. The CAC of Niagara aims to register at least 100 participants before Aug. 8.

“We are happy to partner with New York State Children’s Alliance in hosting the OneTooMany Virtual 5K, for the fifth year in a row,” said Shelley Hitzel, executive director of the Child Advocacy Center of Niagara. “This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to unite and support the essential work we do in aiding children who have experienced abuse.”

Funds raised from the OneTooMany Virtual 5K will support the CAC of Niagara in its mission to provide a comprehensive, trauma-informed, child-centered, and cost-free response to children and families.

“Our vision is a community that is free of violence against children,” Hitzel said. “However, until that vision is realized, we firmly believe that no family should have to pay for the services needed to help their child heal from abuse.”

Participants can sign up to run, walk, bike or hike their 5K anytime and anywhere between Sept. 13 and 15. The registration fee is $40 for adults and $20 for children ages 10 and under. Those registered before Aug. 8 will receive a race bib, a One Too Many NY 5K race T-shirt, and an instruction sheet with information on submitting their official time and participating via social media to win prizes.
