The District Attorney’s Office wishes the residents of Erie County a happy and safe Fourth of July holiday as we celebrate our fundamental rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with our friends, family and community.

Acting District Attorney Mike Keane encourages all citizens to celebrate responsibly. As a reminder, our partners in law enforcement will be patrolling roadways throughout the long weekend. If you drive while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, that decision will negatively impact your life and endangers the lives of others.

“I am committed to keeping our streets safe. This week, a Buffalo man was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to all charges for driving under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, resulting in a head-on collision that killed another driver. Another driver was arraigned for allegedly driving while intoxicated and causing a wrong-way crash that injured another motorist. I want everyone in Erie County to be safe while enjoying Independence Day celebrations. If you choose to drink, find a designated driver. If you drive while intoxicated, you will be prosecuted,” Keane said.
