Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Brian Wallace, age 37, of Niagara Falls, entered a guilty plea to murder in the second degree in county court on June 13. Wallace admitted to murdering 38-year-old Lauren Hayes in a motel room in Niagara Falls on Feb. 21, 2023.

“This was a horrible crime for which the defendant deserves to spend the rest of his life in jail,” Seaman said. “We hope that this guilty plea will bring closure to Ms. Hayes’ family.”

Wallace will be sentenced to 20 years to life in prison by County Court Judge John Ottaviano when he returns to court on Sept. 3.

The case was investigated by the Niagara Falls Police Department and prosecuted by First Assistant District Attorney Doreen Hoffmann and Assistant District Attorney David DeChellis.
