On June 9, at approximately 9:41 a.m., officers with the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a call of a subject with a gun in the 1900 block of Niagara Street. It was reported that there was a female in that area displaying what appeared to be a gun.
Officers arrived on scene and encountered the female holding what appeared to be a black handgun. Officers quickly gave the female orders to drop the gun. She then pointed the gun at one of the officers on scene, who, in turn, fired four shots at the female.
The female was not struck nor injured by the shots. The female dropped the gun and was taken into custody. After the incident was concluded, it was determined the gun the female displayed was a CO2 pellet gun.
The female was charged with menacing in the second degree.
