Acclaimed author Robert Brighton (the “Avenging Angel Detective Agency Mysteries”) will entertain and enlighten attendees with his thought-provoking presentation: “Tourist Town or Manufacturing Mecca – Niagara Falls’ Existential Dilemma.” The event is to be held from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 10, at the LaSalle Branch auditorium of the Niagara Falls Public Library.

A press release stated, “Brighton has spent years investigating the strange and fascinating world of Niagara Falls in the 1880s through the early 1900s. Through his research, he puts his finger on the ultimate (and unresolved) dichotomy of Niagara Falls, New York: Is it a tourist town or a manufacturing center? Could it – or can it – ever be both?

“Brighton will also tell the ‘story behind the story’ of his latest novel, ‘Current of Darkness,’ which is set in the Gilded Age of 1903 Niagara Falls. A Q&A period will follow the presentation, and a limited number of copies of his latest novel will be available for purchase.

A native of Buffalo and Grand Island, as a youth, Brighton spent his summers sneaking across the North Grand Island Bridge to LaSalle and Niagara Falls.

Robert lives with his wife and two cats in Northern Virginia, but said his heart will always be in Western New York.
