USA Niagara Development Corp. (USAN) announced the installation of the “NF NY” sculpture on Old Falls Street in Niagara Falls, a permanent exhibit that will offer a new visitor attraction for the 9.4 million people who visit Niagara Falls each year.

The piece, located behind Cataract Commons on the corner of Rainbow Boulevard and Old Falls Street, is a custom, 3-D, all-aluminum sculpture featuring 4-foot “NF NY” letters and an 8-foot Niagara Falls backdrop. It is conveniently sited near the entrance to Niagara Falls State Park, which attracts more than 9 million visitors annually. The new addition represents the downtown district’s latest piece of public art and is sure to create many Instagramable moments.

“With all the activities planned for Old Falls Street USA throughout the summer, we encourage residents and visitors to stop by and take a selfie with our new ‘NF NY’ sculpture,” USAN President Anthony Vilardo said. “We’re confident that the sculpture will quickly become a fun and easy way to capture unforgettable memories in Niagara Falls.”

Destination Niagara USA purchased and installed “NF NY” for Old Falls Street USA, highlighting the city’s initials as a sculptural shorthand for one of New York’s most popular attractions. USAN selected Destination Niagara USA to operate the Niagara Falls Convention Center and Old Falls Street USA in 2021.

Destination Niagara USA President and CEO John Percy said, “The display of public art is a fun and attractive way to welcome visitors from around the world to Old Falls Street. It also presents the perfect opportunity to promote our destination directly through our visitors when they post photos with the sculpture on their social media accounts. It’s a wonderful addition to the street that our team works so hard to create the best experience possible for all those who visit.”

City of Niagara Falls Mayor Robert Restaino said, “With the summer season upon us, I’m thrilled that there is new public art on Old Falls Street that visitors and residents alike can snap a picture of and share with friends and family. This artistic placemaking will further activate Old Falls Street and draw people into the city.”

Old Falls Street USA is the three-block cobblestone street that connects Niagara Falls State Park with the Niagara Falls Convention Center. The area serves as an entertainment district for residents and visitors, featuring food vendors, festivals, concerts and family-friendly activities.

Summer is the prime season to enjoy all there is to do in Niagara Falls, and Old Falls Street USA recently launched a full season of activities that appeal to a variety of age groups and interests. The Friday night concert series will run from June 28 through Aug. 30, with events starting at 5 p.m. Every Saturday from June 29 to Aug. 24 will feature special events, including the return of Rainbow City Pride on June 29, “Christmas in July” on July 20 and Poochella (Dog Day) on Aug. 24.
