Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced 22-year-old Jamin Haygood, also known as “Scrap,” of Buffalo, was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to 12 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision. He was sentenced today as a second violent felony offender.
On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at approximately 8 p.m., the defendant shot the victim in the head with an illegal shotgun inside of an apartment building on the 2400 block of Delaware Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 51-year-old Jacquette Holley, died at the scene.
Haygood pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class “B” violent felony) on March 22, 2024.
Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department homicide squad for its work in the investigation.
The case was prosecuted by assistant district attorneys Ryan M. Flaherty and Nicholas C. Bussi of the felony trials bureau, as well as Chief Eugene T. Partridge III of the major crimes bureau.
