Purple was the color of the day on the morning of May 4 as Relay For Life volunteers gathered to celebrate “Paint the Town Purple Day” at Town Commons. Volunteers tied purple ribbons to trees, signs and other posts to remember all who have been touched by cancer.

Relay For Life also sold Krispy Kreme doughnuts in the Town Hall parking lot as a fundraiser.

Dana Robinson said the ribbons are “a wonderful tradition and a visual reminder to the community of our constant fight against cancer.”

Brianna Wik and Quincy Letonja, who were tying ribbons to trees together, said they both enjoyed the experience. Wik said she liked “being able to spread hope about cancer throughout the community,” and Letonja said he liked “playing a part in helping to fundraise for cancer research.”

Relay For Life is scheduled for 1-6 p.m. June 2 at Town Commons.
