Obituary: Barbara A. Burns (nee Berhalter)

Barbara A. Burns (nee Berhalter) of Clarence, formerly of Grand Island, died May 1, 2024. She was a beloved longtime crossing guard on Grand Island.

Barbara was the wife of 65 years of the late Edward Burns; the mother of Karen (Bill) Rein, Ann (Brian) Carrier, Daniel (Mary) and Michael (Barbara) Burns; the grandmother of Christopher Rein, Heather (Phil) Benda, Nicole Rein, Steven Carrier, Emily (Erin) Carrier-Karnath, Tim (Maddie), Ryan, Kelly and Michael Jr. (Kristen) Burns, Amanda (Kevin) Schafer and Katie Burns. She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; she was the sister of Peggy (late Roger) Smith, Ann (Tom) Wiles and the late Monnie (late Archie) Smith and Joan (late Ron) Mittlefelt; and the daughter of the late William and Loretta Berhalter.

Visitation was held Friday, May 3, at the Kaiser Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Saturday, May 4, at St. Stephen R.C. Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo, The Brothers of Mercy Foundation, or Families of FANA WNY.
