Press Release
Rene Brock, a literacy teacher at Niagara Wheatfield’s Tuscarora Elementary School, is happy to announce her book, “Letters to Kindra,” is now available to the public. It is a heartwarming tale about a little girl named Rosie who discovers the value of friendship and the power of writing as a tool for effective communication.
Brock shared the story at the annual Niagara/Orleans BOCES writing contest, where she spoke about her writing journey and encouraged others to write their own stories. She also presented the book at the Tuscarora Elementary School, where she provided interactive activities to accompany the story.
Principal Elizabeth Corieri said, “I am so proud of literacy teacher Rene Brock. Rene wrote the story of ‘Letters to Kindra’ with our art teacher Lisa Pavlak. Together, these ladies combined social emotional learning content and infused it with ELA. Rene and Lisa are spreading enthusiasm and gratitude throughout our school buildings as she shares the story of Kindra. The message of hope is spreading as they encourage young readers and writers to build stamina as they embrace their learning journey.”
Brock was thrilled to share her story of kindness and encouragement with students who may need it.
She said, "Sharing fictional stories with the children I work with is a wonderful experience. Demonstrating the power of writing and the gift of storytelling is important."
To bring the story to life, she collaborated with her colleague, Pavlak, who illustrated the story with beautiful watercolors.
Pavlak added, "I hope to inspire the next generation of artists through my illustrations.”
Together, they created a story that can be enjoyed by children of all ages.
