The Erie County Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Erie County Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, is getting ready for “DPW Day” at Ellicott Creek Park this Saturday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
A press release stated, “ DPW Day is a popular and free family event that gives kids, families, and people of all ages an up-close chance to see, touch and learn about the trucks and heavy equipment that work in our community every day but are usually only seen from afar. The event kicks off with a special ‘quiet hour’ from 11 a.m. to noon for children and individuals who are sensitive to loud noises.”
More than two-dozen heavy duty vehicles of various types will be on site for “DPW Day,” including plows, grapple trucks, bucket trucks, skid steers, Gradalls, service trucks and loaders, Vactors, street sweepers and low boy tractor trailers. Food trucks providing refreshments for sale include the Cheesy Chick and Fat Bob’s, while Outlaw Popcorn will also be at “DPW Day.”
“ ‘DPW Day’ is a lot of fun and is a great opportunity for children who love big trucks to get up close to them, climb on them and see what they’re all about,” Commissioner of Public Works Bill Geary said. “There will be all sorts of vehicles on hand, and food trucks, too, so we encourage families to come out and enjoy a day with big trucks at Ellicott Creek Park.”
People needing reasonable accommodation can call 716-858-4991.
Enter through the Creekside Drive entrance only, as the Niagara Falls Boulevard entrance will be closed.
