Erie County Department of Senior Services partnering with Blooming Health to expand communications with older adults

May is Older Americans Month; pilot program will facilitate communications in 70 different languages

The Erie County Department of Senior Services has announced a pilot program in partnership with Blooming Health that will greatly improve communications with constituents, allowing the department to communicate with older adults through voice calls, text messages and email in 70 different languages at the click of a button.

Funding from New York state powers the pilot program, which strengthens departmental connections with older adults and helps to better communicate information about services, provide referrals, and easily collect survey data to improve services. The pilot program will enable older adults to receive timely assistance, nutrition support, home delivered meals updates, educational information, and emergency information all in one spot.

“This new program keeps older adults engaged with their community and improves access for more people to utilize our department’s services and programs,” Commissioner of Senior Services Angela Marinucci said. “We are always looking for ways to expand our outreach and provide individuals with the information and connection they need as they age in place, and this program provides that outreach across 70 languages so we will reach even further.”
