NCSO offers traffic safety enforcement campaign results

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with our law enforcement partners across the county (New York State Park Police, Niagara Falls Police Department, North Tonawanda Police Department, Town of Niagara Police Department, Lewiston Police Department, Middleport Police Department, Somerset Police Department, New York State Police, Lockport Police Department, Youngstown Police Department), announce the results of the recent traffic safety enforcement campaign focused on aggressive driving behaviors.

In total, Niagara County law enforcement agencies issued 751 tickets between April 22-26. Violations included 139 speeding tickets, 32 cell phone tickets, 33 seatbelt violations, nine DWI charges, and 316 other vehicle and traffic offenses, including: disobeying traffic control devices, following too closely, reckless driving, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, and various vehicle equipment and inspection violations.

Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti said, "This enforcement effort netted results that will start to make an impact on driving behaviors. Our work isn't done; we must continue traffic details to make our roadways safer."

"The Niagara County Traffic Safety Board is comprised of several police agencies and other stakeholders. Our goal is to reduce traffic collisions through targeted enforcement and traffic safety education,” added LPD Chief Frank Previte, chairman of the NCTSB.
