24-hour event will raise funds for critical hospital programs and services; event to feature various donation opportunities and promotional activities including a radio promotion with Cumulus Media
Press Release
John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital announced the inaugural 2024 “Giving Day FOR Oishei Children's Hospital” (OCH) will be held May 21, in partnership with Cumulus Media. The 24-hour event will be highlighted through radio promotion airing that day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on 103.3 “The Edge,” “Classic Hits” 104.1 and “97 Rock.” Funds raised will support critical programs, services and care for the most vulnerable moms, kids and babies in Western New York.
“Giving Day” is also set to feature a series of special community events and corporate partner promotions organized in the weeks leading up to the event date. These activities will reinforce the crucial role that OCH plays in providing essential care to the community.
“Our region is known for its spirit of generosity, and whether it was through our former home on Bryant Street or our state-of-the-art hospital on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, children’s hospital has touched the lives of so many Western New Yorkers over its 130-plus-year history,” said Dr. Stephen Turkovich, president of Oishei Children's Hospital. “ ‘Giving Day’ is an exciting new opportunity to come together collectively to support this essential institution, as we strive to impact pediatric and maternal health outcomes and ensure that every child and their family receives the quality care they deserve.”
OCH is the only standalone children’s hospital in New York state, and is the premier regional center for comprehensive pediatric trauma, surgical and medical care across all eight Western New York counties and into northern Pennsylvania. With a legacy of excellence spanning decades, OCH remains committed to serving the community and advancing pediatric medicine through education programs and compassionate care.
“We could think of no better time to honor and support the mothers and kids of our community than during the month of May. As luck would have it, this also happens to be the birth date of OCH’s No. 1 fan and our community’s favorite quarterback, Josh Allen,” said Andrew Bennett, chief development officer for Oishei Children’s Hospital. “What better way to wish Josh a happy birthday and support his favorite charity than through a donation to the hospital on ‘Giving Day.’ ”
As a nonprofit hospital, OCH cares for all who need it, no matter their insured status or ability to pay. Donations made on “Giving Day” will ensure the hospital has the most advanced technology and equipment training and education for staff, and provides an overall excellent experience to patients and their families through various support programs.
In addition to the radio stories and various day-of events, individuals and corporate contributors will have the opportunity to support “Giving Day” through an online donation portal, available at www.givingdayforoch.org.
Additional “Giving Day” information and specific event details are expected to be released in the coming weeks. Visit www.givingdayforoch.org for updates.
