Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 22-year-old Jamin Haygood of Buffalo pleaded guilty this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller to one count of manslaughter in the first degree (class “B” violent felony).
On Saturday, May 27, 2023, at approximately 8 p.m., the defendant shot the victim in the head with an illegal handgun inside of an apartment building on the 2400 block of Delaware Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 51-year-old Jacquette Holley, died at the scene.
Haygood faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on Friday, April 26. He remains held without bail.
Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department homicide squad for its work in the investigation.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Ryan M. Flaherty and Nicholas C. Bussi of the felony trials bureau, as well as Chief Eugene T. Partridge III of the major crimes bureau.
