Paul W. Bauer passed peacefully at home, on Jan. 13, surrounded by his family.
He was a 1955 graduate of Canisius High School, a U.S. Army veteran and owner of the Raymond A. Bauer Insurance Agency for 58 years.
Paul was a great outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing and also bowling. An avid skeet and trap shooter, he was a member of the National Skeet Shooting Association and inducted into the New York State Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame. He was a lifetime member of the Grand Island Rod & Gun Club and a member of the Niagara River Station Fishing Club.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Susan C. (nee Nailor) Bauer; by his daughters, Teresa R. Bauer, Mary C. (Chuck) Meyer III and Sherrie A. Pufpaff; and by his grandson, James W. Pufpaff. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Raymond A. and Jennie P. (Outtrim) Bauer; by his sisters, Grace M. (late Edward) Schintzius and Norma J. (late Edward) May; and by his brother, Raymond G. (late Marguerite) Bauer.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, at St. Stephen’s R.C. Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island. For a livestream, go to ststephenswny.com.
