The Youngstown Yacht Club has named Charles Kegler Sr. as its 74th commodore to lead the organization. Kegler is taking over the leadership role following a two-year commitment from Past Commodore Adam Burns.
A press release noted, “Serving on the board of directors for the past three years, Charlie has spearheaded and sat on various committees at the club since joining the sailing organization in 2018 with his son, Charlie Jr. Both Charlie and his son enjoy racing competitively on J111 sailboats and cherish their time on the water together on their Bristol 32, Charlie2.”
Kegler said, “Charlie Jr. and I didn't just join a yacht club, we became members to an exhilarating lifestyle and hobby, and are part of an amazing sailing committee and family. Whether we are enjoying a lovely dinner on a Friday evening with friends, or making a downwind run on race night, Youngstown Yacht Club has a little bit of everything for everyone."
The press release added, “With nearly 100 years of tradition and legacy, the Youngstown Yacht Club has much to offer current and prospective members of all ages and sailing experience, such as weeknight competitive racing, regattas, social sailing for inquiring and newer members, adult and junior sailing lessons, community boat club (pontoon, kayaks, keel boats and paddle boards), special events, and a full restaurant and bar. In addition, the club’s patio, lawn and fire pit provides front-row seats to some of Western New York’s most stunning sunsets.”
