The Col. William Bond/Jesse Hawley House (circa 1825) in Lockport will soon be a wonderland of 19th century holiday decorations – and the public is invited to experience it between 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, when the Niagara County Historical Society presents the annual “Winter’s Eve Eve.”
As the oldest brick house in Niagara County enters its 200th birthday year, guests will be able to tour all 12 rooms, adorned for the season in period decorations. Visitors will walk in the footsteps of former owners Col. William Bond, Jesse Hawley and Kate Chase Seymour, as they enjoy the house these early Lockportians called home.
“A Winter’s Fest Eve” is free and open to the public, though donations to the Historical Society are gratefully accepted. Reservations are not required, but guests can call the NCHS at 716-434-7433 with questions or for directions.
The Col. William Bond/Jesse Hawley House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located at 143 Ontario St., Lockport.
