On Saturday, the St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary celebrated its 70th anniversary at the firehall on Ward and Krueger roads.
The event was headed up by Arlene Mante as hosting member, Town Clerk Kathy Harrington-McDonell and Historian Justin J. M. Higner.
A press release stated, “The honorable Ladies Auxiliary have been responsible for many initiatives over the years, including setup and food/chowder preparation for the annual Field Days and bingo events, to donations to various food pantries and domestic violence prevention advocacy groups.”
Three proclamations were read, including one from Supervisor Don MacSwan, the Niagara County Legislature via representative Jesse Gooch, and New York State Sen. Rob Ortt.
Honors to officers included certificates for Mante, MaryJane Ziomek, Carol Donner, Rosemary Siegman, Betty Brown, Mary Behnke, Judy Miller, Cheryl Turner, Majorie Bernhard, Katheryn Sonnen, Peggy Bauer, Debbie Collins and Linda Connell. Keepsake roses were presented to certain other members, and historic photos were provided for all to admire. Food preparation was headed up by Richard Donner and several members of the fire department. (Submitted by Justin Higner)
