Marilyn J. Alaimo, 87, formerly of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Oct. 3, 2023, at home with her family on Grand Island, under the care of Hospice Buffalo. Born in Niagara Falls, she was the daughter of the late Catherine (Riggi) Scapucci.
Marilyn was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On Sept. 14, 1957, she married Charles J. Alaimo at St. Joseph Church. Charles predeceased her on Feb. 13, 2017.
Marilyn was employed as a baker at Kaegebein Elementary School on Grand Island for 34 years until her retirement in 2013. She was a member of the Cristoforo Colombo Ladies Auxiliary and was an organizer of her Niagara Falls High School class reunions for many years. An avid baker, she owned and operated her own business, Marilyn’s Cakes. Marilyn loved taking care of her home and listening to oldies music. Above all, she will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to Marilyn’s aides from H.A.R.T., Phyllis and Arnetta, for the angelic care shown to her and her family during her final days.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Robert J. (Kelli) Alaimo and Michael C. Alaimo; by her grandchildren: SM Sgt. Krystalore, USAF (MSG Benjamin, U.S. Army); and Crews and Earl J. Stegner. Also by her great-grandchildren: Emma Stegner, Eliana Stegner and Ava Crews; her nieces and nephews: Joanne Roscetti, Ronald Roscetti, Debbie Alaimo and Michael Alaimo; a great-nephew, Cole (T.J.) Snell, USAF; by her dear cousins: Loretta Abbo and Phyllis Marra; her lifelong friends: Nancy D’Angelis and Joanie DiFillipo; by her good neighbors, Sue and Chris; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband of 58 years, Marilyn was predeceased by her sons, Mark C. Alaimo and Richard J. Alaimo; and by her dear cousin, Dolores Russo.
