On Aug. 17 at approximately 1:25 p.m., Niagara Falls Police responded to the intersection of Niagara Falls Boulevard and Military Road to investigate a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.
A 2023 Jeep Wrangler was making a left turn onto Niagara Falls Boulevard from Military Road when it struck a 91-year-old male pedestrian as he crossed Niagara Falls Boulevard in the crosswalk heading southbound. The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to Kenmore Mercy Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Neither the operator of the Jeep, a 28-year-old woman from Niagara Falls, nor her two children claimed any injuries. The driver is cooperating in the investigation.
The crash investigation unit responded and is gathering evidence to complete the investigation. The identity of the victim is being withheld until the family can make notifications.
