The Youngstown Lions Club recently selected Paul R. Beatty Sr. as the 2023 recipient of the prestigious Robert J. Uplinger Distinguished Service Award. A presentation was formally made by Youngstown Lions Club President Lois Kaminski during the Jack Beatty Memorial Hospice Cruise & Clambake at the Youngstown Yacht Club.
This accolade honors outstanding Lions, non-Lions, and/or organizations performing exemplary service to the Lions Club, district or community. Honorees embody the highest examples of character, ideals, purpose and service.
The award was established in 1993 by the New York State and Bermuda Lions Foundation and is named after its first recipient, past Lions International President Lion Robert J. Uplinger of Syracuse.
A press release said Beatty was selected by the Youngstown Lions Club for this distinct honor because “he clearly personifies the club’s motto, ‘We Serve!’ Beatty has served the Niagara County community for decades, including Niagara Hospice for over 20 years. He has always shown true encouragement and support of the Youngstown Lions Club, often asking what he can do for us, not just how we can be of service to his causes.”
