On Thursday, at approximately 5:20 p.m., New York State Park Police responded to Niagara Falls State Park, Three Sisters Island, for a reported male who had intentionally entered the Niagara River. New York State Park Police responded and found the man clinging to a rock and small tree in the rapids near Three Sisters Island.
Park Police Officers were able to utilize ropes and bring the man safely to shore. The individual was evaluated by Niagara Falls Fire for minor injuries. He was then sent for a mental health evaluation.
A press release noted, "New York State Park Police stand in solidarity with those who are experiencing mental health conditions, and our commitment to help individuals get the support they need and deserve.
