Niagara County Department of Public Works Commissioner Garret Meal announced a section of West Somerset Road, between Hess and Hosmer roads, in the Town of Newfane, will be closed to all motorists, except local traffic, beginning Monday, July 17. Detours signs to redirect motorists will be put in place.
This project on West Somerset Road includes maintenance work on two bridges, with the bridge over Fish Creek necessitating the road closure. The closure is expected to be in place through the completion of the project in early October.
“We always appreciate the public’s patience with these necessary road closures as we undertake this critical infrastructure work,” Meal said.
