Preview party set for July 6

Where were you in the summer of ’69? Watching the moon landing on your 21-inch TV? Joyriding in the backseat of your best friend’s Chevy Corvair? Or were you just a twinkle in your daddy’s (or granddaddy’s) eye?!?

Break out your favorite tie-dyed T-shirt and your bellbottom jeans and head down to Academy Park for the grooviest summer happening around. The annual “Summer of ’69” concert is set for 7-10 p.m. Friday, July 7, in Lewiston’s Academy Park.

“We’re so lucky to host Lewiston's own, homegrown, been-playing-in-a-band-together-since-high-school, 1960s rock musicians,” Lewiston Council on the Arts Executive Director Maria Fortuna Dean said. “Everyone looks forward to this event – annual reunions are actually scheduled around the date of this concert. These hits from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s truly bring people of all ages together.”

The concert will feature musicians Tom Pieroni, Chuck Scrufari, Ray O’Keefe, Bill Bates, Tim Walton, Gary Baker and Patrick Sciarrino, as well as the bands Country Orphanage, Soft Side and the Lewiston All Stars.

There will be a pre-party, open rehearsal fundraiser at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at the Lewiston Stone House, 655 Center St. Admission is $10 per person, with proceeds to benefit the Lewiston Council on the Arts.
