The Town of Porter announced this week it will close applications for the 2023 “Hometown Heroes” banner program on Thursday, June 15.
The initiative honoring service members has proven popular in the community, with 34 banners now flying on utility poles in Youngstown and Ransomville, and new applications still coming in to Town Hall, according to Porter officials.
Supervisor John “Duffy” Johnston said the town is accepting applications until mid-June and will then close the program for the year. Applications remain available on the town’s website, townofporter.net.
Johnston said he hopes to have all “Hometown Heroes” banners to be up by the July 4 holiday.
