The Grand Island Rotary Club thanks the residents of Grand Island for their “overwhelming support” in the club's recent and debut shoe fundraiser.
The Grand Island Rotary Club surpassed its goal of 2,500 pairs of shoes by collecting more than 3,000 gently used or new shoes that will be turned into a cash donation back to the club. The shoes will be purchased by a company that will distribute them to family run microenterprises in impoverished areas throughout the world. The money the club receives will be used to fund its local causes, including Grand Island High School scholarships, the Family Justice Center, the Adopt-a-Highway program, and the DeGlopper Memorial expansion program.
