Buffalo Girlchoir will once again perform a concert at the Merriweather branch of the Buffalo and Erie County Public Library located at 1324 Jefferson Ave.

The concert will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, and is part of a new tradition to host an annual concert at the Merriweather library that is free and open to the public.

A press release stated, “Last year, Buffalo Girlchoir performed this concert days after the mass shooting at Tops Market. Although the concert had been planned many months in advance, it took on much more significance in the face of such violence.

“Buffalo Girlchoir’s theme for its 2022-23 season is ‘Sing the Change.’ This year’s concert will be dedicated to all who assisted in the aftermath of this tragedy.

“At last year’s concert, reusable grocery bags were collected to assist with efforts to feed the residents living near the library. To continue in this spirit of community, we ask that you bring diapers and period products to the concert to help stock the pantry located in the library branch.

“The mission of Buffalo Girlchoir is to provide exceptional music instruction to young women from all social strata culminating in transcendent performances at the highest level of artistic excellence, facilitating their development into self-assured young women.”
