The Youngstown Free Library board of trustees and the Friends of the Youngstown Free Library are again offering the Ruby Carey Memorial Scholarship to any student who lives in the 14174 postal ZIP code and will be graduating this June.
Organizers said, “Ruby Carey was involved in church, community and civic organizations; was instrumental in establishing the Youngstown Free Library; and became a valued staff member there. In her honor, the $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who shows excellence in academics, extracurricular activities, and an involvement in community service.”
Scholarship applications can be found in the Lewiston-Porter High School guidance office, online at www.youngstownfreelibrary.org, or at the library at 240 Lockport St. The application deadline is April 28.
