Niagara Arts Guild President Kim Christy will speak on the job of the art director for plays and musical shows at the organization’s monthly meeting Friday, April 14. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Dale Association, 33 Ontario St., Lockport. Artists and art lovers are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.

A graduate of the University at Buffalo, majoring in painting, Christy works part time as an artist. For the local production of “Hello Dolly,” she volunteered to help with set and decor. Christy did the same for the musical “Into The Woods” in 2022, and for the play “Puff's.” She was then hired for the art director position on the musical production “All Shook Up” at  Lockport High School in 2023. There, she collaborated with the stage director and technical director to create a set that was eye-catching, dynamic and relevant to the story. That show was nominated for a Kenny Award.
