The VFW Auxiliary of Lake Ontario Post 313 in Youngstown is still accepting entries for the VFW Auxiliary’s annual Illustrating America art contest.
“The contest rewards the artistic abilities of elementary and middle/junior high school students,” said Barbara Jesz of VFW Auxiliary Post 313.
The contest is open to students in grades K-8. Students will need to submit an original, two-dimensional piece of artwork. Coloring sheets, digital art and photography are not accepted.
The entry must completed during the school year and will need to include a parent or guardian signature.
Students enter the competition at the local VFW Auxiliary level and compete in three divisions: K-2, grades 3-5 and grades 6-8. Competition then advances to the state level, with a first-place winner in each division in each division forwarded to the VFW Auxiliary national headquarters. Awards are presented for first, second and third place in each division, and all state-winning entries will be displayed at the VFW Auxiliary National Convention this year.
Student entries are being accepted at VFW Auxiliary Post 313 until March 31. For more information contact Jesz via email at [email protected] or call 716-297-8686.
